Proclamation recognizing Ms. Cecelia Evans-Conwell for her 40 years of service as a Registered Professional Nurse, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Educator.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Cecelia Evans-Conwell, R.N., M.S.N., C.R.N.P. is honored upon entering her fortieth  year working within our Allegheny County community as a Registered Professional Nurse, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Educator.  Her career has been replete with accomplishment utilizing a wealth of experience and education in Pediatrics, Education and Management;  and

 

                         WHEREAS, Cecelia Evans-Conwell has contributed immeasurably in her career with Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, where she worked in collaboration with Dr. Richard Moriarty, M.D. launching the Pittsburgh Poison Center. She has served on the faculties of the Community College of Allegheny County and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing.  Her career is distinguished by an unwavering commitment to the tenets of service to the people of Allegheny County and mankind. Recently, she was appointed by the Deputy Director of Public Health for Sanofi Pasteur to become part of the National Immunization Leadership Council (NILC), devoting her time to education of the nursing community about the importance of immunization;  and

 

                     WHEREAS, her illustrious tenure is marked by being selected  as the 1972 Allegheny County Nurse of Hope, and as the 1973 Pennsylvania Nurse of Hope representing the American Cancer Society in cancer prevention education.  She was recognized as one of the Outstanding Young Women of America in 1975, and received the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing Award of Excellence in 2001, all of which exemplify her dedication in providing for the  health and well being of individuals within this community.  A graduate of La Roche College with a B.S.N. and the University of Pittsburgh with an M.S.N degree, she participated in the initial charter of the local chapters of both the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau (Theta Mu Chapter),  and a member of the National League for Nursing;  and

 

                          WHEREAS, Cecelia Evans-Conwell's selfless service extends to volunteer activities.  She represents the finest in those devoted to community as a member of the UPMC Vigil Program, Mercy Hospital Ambassador to Saint Kilian Parish, and a former Vice President of the Board of Directors for the American Cancer  Society in Allegheny County; 

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council thanks Cecelia Evans-Conwell for her contributions to the development of a prosperous, healthier community, and joins her friends, family and colleagues in celebrating her nursing service years of providing care.
