Proclamation commending Operation Troop Appreciation President & Founder, Kristen Holloway, and Vice-President Monica Orluk for their extensive efforts to build and sustain the morale of our deployed troops.

WHEREAS, Allegheny County is blessed to have individuals who give up enormous amounts of their spare time in order to support our troops as they bravely serve overseas; and
WHEREAS, in 2004, local resident Kristen Holloway founded Operation Troop Appreciation, a non-profit organization that provides deployed troops with “wish list” items that help to boost their morale during their time of service; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Holloway, who presently serves as President of Operation Troop Appreciation, is also employed full-time with PPG Industries, Inc., where she is the Sales Development Manager for Corporate Growth Initiatives; and
WHEREAS, equally devoted to Operation Troop Appreciation is Monica Orluk, Vice-President and Board Member, who also works full-time as an Executive Consultant for Fiserv Lending Solutions; and
WHEREAS, through the hard work of these two extraordinary women and the countless evenings and weekends that they have devoted to this cause, and with the help of private individuals, small business partnerships, and corporate sponsors, Operation Troop Appreciation has sent “wish-list” items to thousands of soldiers serving overseas; and
WHEREAS, for their work, Operation Troop Appreciation has received multiple well-deserved accolades, including the President's Volunteer Service Award and a visit from President George H.W. Bush, among many other honors;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Allegheny County Council commends Kristen Holloway and Monica Orluk for the dedication to our troops that they have demonstrated through their work with Operation Troop Appreciation. You are both an inspiration to the Members of this Council and to all the residents of Allegheny County and we thank you for all that you have done to support our American heroes.
