TITLE

An Ordinance of the County of Allegheny, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, authorizing acceptance of cherry trees through the Sakura (Cherry Blossom) Project, in association with the Japanese Association of Greater Pittsburgh.

 

BODY

                     Whereas, the Sakura Project has offered to donate and plant cherry trees in the County's North Park; and

 

                     Whereas, the County's Department of Parks has recommended acceptance of said trees; and

 

                     Whereas, Article IV, Sections 2.j. of the Allegheny County Home Rule Charter vests the County's Council with the power to accept donations on behalf of the County.

 

The Council of the County of Allegheny hereby enacts as follows:

 

SECTION 1.                     Incorporation of the Preamble

 

The provisions set forth in the preamble to this Ordinance are incorporated by reference as set forth in their entirety herein.

 

 

SECTION 2.  Acceptance of cherry trees for planting on County Property

                     

                     County Council does hereby authorize the Allegheny County Parks Department on behalf of Allegheny County to authorize the Sakura (Cherry Blossom) Project to plant several hundred trees in the County's North Park, west of the Boathouse Facility towards the Platform Tennis Courts and between the lake and Pearce Mill Road. The design and installation of the trees is at no cost to the County.

 

SECTION 3.   Severability.   If any provision of this Ordinance shall be determined to be unlawful, invalid, void or unenforceable, then that provision shall be considered severable from the remaining provisions of this Ordinance, which shall be in full force and effect.

 

SECTION 4.      Repealer.   Any prior Resolutions or Ordinances or part thereof conflicting with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed insofar as the same affects this Ordinance.
