A Resolution of the Council of the County of Allegheny, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, inviting the Board of Directors of the National Association of Counties (NACo) to select Allegheny County as the host for NaCo's 2010 or 2011 Annual Conference and Exposition

WHEREAS, the National Association of Counties has served for more than six decades as the only national organization representing the nation's 3066 counties on issues and actions in Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, NACo sponsors an Annual Conference and Exposition that attracts the attendance of more than 3,500 elected and appointed officials from across the country for various workshops, educational sessions and symposia devoted to matters of importance affecting the operation of county governments; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of NACo is in the process of selecting a site to hold the 2010 and 2011 NaCo Annual Conference and Exposition; and
WHEREAS, County Council, in cooperation with the Chief Executive, is desirous of having the Board of Directors of NACo select Allegheny County to host NaCo Annual Conference and Exposition in either 2010 or 2011; and
WHEREAS, County Council wishes to lend its support to efforts of the County's Chief Executive in procuring support for the hosting of the NACo Annual Conference and Exposition.
The Council of the County of Allegheny hereby resolves as follows:
Section 1. Selection of County to Host the 2010 or 2011 NACo Annual Conference
and Exposition.
Allegheny County Council respectfully encourages the Board of Directors of NACo select Allegheny County to host NACo Annual Conference and Exposition in either 2010 or 2011.
Section 2. Severability. If any provision of this Resolution shall be determined to be unlawful, invalid, void or unenforceable, then that provision shall be considered severable from the remaining provisions of this Resolution which shall be in full force and effect.
Section 3. Repealer. Any resolution or ordinance or part thereof conflicting with the provisions of this Resolution is hereby repealed so far as the same affects this Resolution.
