Proclamation recognizing the awardees at the Amen Corner's Holiday Reception and Annual Meeting, held on November 29, 2007.

[WHEREAS, Mr. Dane P. Isaacs will be honored as the outgoing President of Amen Corner at the Amen Corner's Holiday Reception and Annual Meeting on November 29th, 2007; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Isaacs has served on the Amen Corner Board of Governors and Executive Board since 2002, where he has participated on several event committees. During his tenure as President, he received the David L. Lawrence Public Service Award and participated in the coordination of the Tailgate Party and Evening at the Ballpark Event. He also designed and coordinated the Amen Corner Calendar, whose revenues supported two Amen Corner scholarships; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Isaacs is currently employed by the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office Real Estate Auction Division and as an investigator with Bendig Security Group. He also acts as a political consultant and owns a small gifting business that caters to the corporate sector. His artistic gift creations are reputable among local charity auctions and are becoming a consistent fixture at Amen Corner events; and
WHEREAS, for the past several years, Mr. Isaacs has dedicated his time to the management and coordination of several public servant campaigns, including those on the Judicial, Congressional, Senatorial, Row Office, and County Executive levels. He also devotes much of his energy to youth-oriented organizations, coordinating events for the Boy Scouts, CASA, Safety Kids, the West Homestead Centennial, and Variety Club;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, hereby recognizes and congratulates the Amen Corner's outgoing President, Mr. Dane P. Isaacs. This Council commends Mr. Isaacs for his dedication and commitment to leadership and excellence which has earned him this distinguished honor and serves as an inspiration to this Council and the citizens of Allegheny County.
WHEREAS, Mr. Joseph A. Massaro, Chairman and CEO of the Massaro Corporation, will be honored with the 2007 Fred E. Obley Award for Business Leadership and Excellence at the Amen Corner's Holiday Reception and Annual Meeting on November 29th, 2007; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Massaro founded his own construction business, the Massaro Corporation, in 1967 and as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the organization, he continues to remain active in all facets of the business; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Massaro also devotes much of his time to community, charitable, and religious organizations, including his service in his current positions on the Board of Advisors at Central Catholic High School, the Board of Directors of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and the Board of Directors of the Pittsburgh Opera; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Massaro has previously received countless accolades, including the Italian Heritage Society Businessman of the Year Award, the Pittsburgh Italian Scholarship Fund Award, and the Pittsburgh Italian Man of the Year Award. In addition, he was awarded with the University of Pittsburgh Medallion of Distinction and the 1980 National Multiple Sclerosis Society Hope Chest Award. Mr. Massaro was also inducted into the Central Catholic High School Alumni Hall of Fame in 1982. His further accomplishments include theOperation Dig, Inc. Humanitarian Award (1982), the Italian-American Sports Hall of Fame Frank Santamaria Lifetime Achievement Award (1996), the NAIOP Lifetime Achievement Award (2001), the St. Anthony School Opportunity Award (2001), the Pittsburgh Center for Arts Cultural Award (2002), and the Jewish National Fund Tree of Life Award (2004);
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, hereby recognizes and congratulates Mr. Joseph A. Massaro upon receiving the 2007 Fred E. Obley Award for Business Leadership and Excellence. This Council commends Mr. Massaro for his dedication and commitment to leadership and excellence which has earned him this distinguished award and serves as an inspiration to this Council and the citizens of Allegheny County.
