Jeffrey Mohr upon the occasion of their retirement from the Allegheny County Police Department. Your accomplishments are many and varied and have established Allegheny County’s Police Department as a model on a national scale. You have diligently guarded the safety of our County’s residents over the course of an exemplary career, and this endeavor has earned both the esteem and the respect of the citizens of Allegheny County.  Your dedication to serving our community, even at great risk to yourself, has conferred honor upon the County to be shared by each of us and, for that, we commend you.

Allegheny County Council is proud to present this Certificate of Recognition to Patrol Officer Robert Poloka upon the occasion of being named the 2016 Patrol Officer of the Year from the Allegheny County Police Department. On November 10, 2016, the Allegheny County Police Bomb Squad responded to Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, to assist Washington County SWAT Team with a possible barricaded suspect with a hostage. This was also the scene of the fatal shooting of two Canonsburg Police Officers who were ambushed while responding to a domestic dispute. The Bomb Squad received a report of a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) in front of the suspect’s home. ACPD Officer and Bomb Technician Robert Poloka donned protective equipment and used the SWAT Team’s armor as cover, approached the vehicle and rendered the VBIED safe. Officer Poloka performed this duty while not knowing if the suspect was still active. Your dedication to serving our community, even at great risk to yourself, has conferred honor upon the County to be shared by each of us and, for that, we commend P.O. Robert Poloka.

Allegheny County Council is proud to present this Certificate of Recognition to Detective Judson Ekis and Detective Thomas DeFelice for being named 2016 Detectives of the Year by the Allegheny County Police Department. Detectives DeFelice and Ekis conducted a 14-month narcotics investigation in the Glassport area of Allegheny County. During the course of the investigation, they made over one hundred undercover drug buys (86% being Heroin) and recovered multiple stolen firearms. The Detectives identified and obtained arrest warrants for 47 suspects who were dealing drugs in the Glassport area. In March 2016, several law enforcement agencies joined forces to arrest the suspects. Your dedication to serving our community, even at great risk to yourself, has conferred honor upon the County to be shared by each of us and, for that, we commend Detective Judson Ekis and Detective Thomas DeFelice.

Allegheny County Council is proud to present these Certificates of Recognition to Lieutenant Michael O’Keefe, Detective Brian Keefe, and Detective Daniel Witt upon the occasion of being awarded Certificates of Valor from the Allegheny County Police Department. On November 11, 2016, Allegheny County Police Lieutenant/SWAT Commander Michael O’Keefe guided a small contingent of officers, including Detectives Daniel Witt and Brian Keefe, into a mental health facility in Homestead to respond to the report of a male actor armed with a gun and knife who had stabbed several people. They located the armed actor on the fifth floor, and since the actor ignored the officers’ repeated commands to drop his weapons, the officers were left with no choice but to neutralize him. This action allowed for the rescue of the victims and prevented further injury to those involved. Your dedication to serving our community, even at great risk to yourself, has conferred honor upon the County to be shared by each of us and, for that, we commend Lieutenant Michael O’Keefe, Detective Brian Keefe, and Detective Daniel Witt.

Allegheny County Council is proud to present this Certificate of Recognition to Patrol Officer Keith McGann upon the occasion of receiving a Certificate of Commendation from the Allegheny County Police Department. On May 26, 2016, Officer McGann assisted with the search for a suspect who fled from the scene of a homicide in Brentwood. Officer McGann observed movement in a wooded area and ordered the suspect out of the woods. Officer McGann obtained a statement from the suspect which implicated him in the shooting of two male victims and assisted with locating the murder weapon. Your dedication to serving our community, even at great risk to yourself, has conferred honor upon the County to be shared by each of us and, for that, we commend Patrol Officer Keith McGann.

Allegheny County Council is proud to present this Certificate of Recognition to Detective Michael Feeney upon the occasion of receiving a Certificate of Commendation from the Allegheny County Police Department. Detective Feeney assisted fellow homicide detectives with collecting video evidence to solve a fatal hit & run accident which occurred on April 9, 2016. Through extensive efforts to locate and recover surveillance video, Detective Feeney found evidence which led to the identification of the hit & run vehicle, and he obtained a confession from the driver. Your dedication to serving our community, even at great risk to yourself, has conferred honor upon the County to be shared by each of us and, for that, we commend Detective Michael Feeney.
