Proclamation thanking the Honorable Ralph LeDonne for his 13 years of service as the Legislative Constituent Outreach Specialist for the Honorable Mike Turzai, Pennsylvania House of Representatives Majority Leader.

WHEREAS, Allegheny County is blessed with individuals dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our neighborhood and the community as a whole; individuals such as the Honorable Ralph LeDonne, who has placed his stamp of character and hard work throughout the community, as both a public servant and strong leader; and
WHEREAS, shortly after high school graduation, Mr. LeDonne entered the United States Army, serving 3 years during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the JFK assassination; and
WHEREAS, following his honorable discharge from the Army, Mr. LeDonne worked in broadcasting and sales until joining the McCandless Police Department. He served as a patrol officer, juvenile officer and lieutenant until his promotion to Chief of Police in 1987. During his tenure as Chief he was elected to several leadership positions in the Allegheny County Chiefs of Police and Western Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Associations. In 1997, Chief LeDonne retired; and
WHEREAS, in 2001, Mr. LeDonne began another career as the Legislative Constituent Outreach Specialist for State Representative Mike Turzai; and
WHEREAS, Mr. LeDonne, a longtime resident of the Town of McCandless, was elected in 2005 as a councilman for the 6th Ward, Town of McCandless, and in January 2014, he began his third term in office. During his tenure on council, he served as chairman of the Services Committee which consists of the Fire Service, cable television providers and refuse and recycling services;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, hereby recognizes Mr. Ralph LeDonne for his contributions to the Town of McCandless and the enhancement of the well-being of the citizens of McCandless and Allegheny County. Mr. LeDonne acted always in the best interests of his constituents, and upon the occasion of his retirement, we thank him for his many years of genuine and unwavering public service.
