Proclamation recognizing the Glen Hazel Kane Regional Center for hosting a "Salute to Heroes" event on September 10, 2006 to commemorate Patriot Day and honor the heroes of September 11, 2001 and in our own community.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Glen Hazel John J. Kane Regional Center, a residential skilled nursing care and rehabilitation facility for short and long-term care, supports their residents' independence and strives to provide individualized care, taking each person's unique needs and life experiences into consideration; and 

 

WHEREAS, on September 10th, 2006, the Glen Hazel Kane Regional Center and its residents will hold a “Salute to Heroes” program to commemorate Patriot Day, honor the heroes of September 11, 2001 and the local heroes in our community whose service continues to protect the United States to this day; and

 

WHEREAS, the residents of the Glen Hazel Kane Regional Center voted to name their outdoor courtyard in dedication to these heroes, and the winning name was Freedom Court.  An Honor Roll will be located in Freedom Court for individuals to submit names of veterans that deserve our respect and recognition; and

 

WHEREAS, the Salute to Heroes program will remember the courage of the firefighters, police officers, emergency rescue personnel, military and scores of private citizens who showed us the true meaning of heroism and demonstrated our resolve to the world; and

 

WHEREAS, we are grateful to all of these men and women for their commitment to defending our freedom and protecting us from harm.  They perform their jobs with extraordinary distinction, and a proud and grateful Nation will always remember their service and sacrifice.  We pay tribute to those citizens that served during wartime and honor their courage and bravery;

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize the wisdom of the Glen Hazel Kane Regional Center in presenting a “Salute to Heroes” event on September 10, 2006.  We commemorate Patriot Day by honoring the lives lost on September 11, 2001 and throughout the history of our great Nation, and we commend their resolve to preserve our freedom for future generations.  Through the dedication of “Freedom Court” this day shall be a lasting memory to all of these outstanding citizens, to a noble cause and to a great community.
