Proclamation commending Mr. Charles E. Allie for his dedication and commitment to the idea of a healthy body, healthy mind and healthy spirit that is evidenced through his reputation as a Master Athlete.

WHEREAS, Allegheny County is blessed with individuals dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our neighborhood and the community as a whole; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Charles E. “Buddy” Allie, has placed his stamp of character and hard work throughout the community, as both an educator and Master Athlete; and

 

WHEREAS, a life long resident of Pittsburgh, Mr. Allie holds a Bachelor's Degree from Hampton University and a Master's Degree from the University of Pittsburgh; and

 

WHEREAS, is a industrial arts teacher at Allegheny Traditional Academy and teaches at Frick International Studies Academy, both  divisions of the Pittsburgh Public School System where he has taught for thirty-three years; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Allie also lends his time and talents to the youth of our community by coaching girls soccer, basketball and softball at Allegheny Traditional Academy; and

 

WHEREAS, a Master Athlete, Mr. Allie has won numerous National Age Group Sprint Championships during the past two decades and is currently a member of the Nadia Track Club in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and

 

WHEREAS, in July of 1999, Mr. Allie finished first place in the 50-54 age group at the World Association of Veteran Athletes Championship which was held in Gateshead, England; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Allie is a strong example of the importance of physical education and fitness, proving that age is not a factor in keeping the spirit of competition and winning alive in one's self, and serving as a role model to those students with which he interacts as teacher, coach, and friend;

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby commend Mr. Charles E. “Buddy” Allie for his dedication and commitment to the idea of a healthy body, healthy mind and healthy spirit that is evidenced through his reputation as a Master Athlete.
