Proclamation recognizing the annual Air Fair on September 9-10, 2006 and celebrating the momentous occasion of the Allegheny County Airport's 75th Anniversary.

WHEREAS, southwestern Pennsylvania has a strong role in the history of the aviation industry, having led the way in airmail, control tower operations, new terminal design, airport retail and customer service technologies; and
WHEREAS, on September 9 & 10, the Allegheny County Airport will celebrate its
75th Anniversary at the 2006 Air Fair. This year's activities include a variety of events such as the paper airplane contest, vintage and military aircraft, plane rides, fly-ins, food, vendors, and entertainment; and
WHEREAS, Allegheny County Airport is the fifth busiest airport in the Commonwealth and the largest general aviation airport in western Pennsylvania, generating $322 million in economic activity and supporting over 1,500 jobs in Allegheny County; and
WHEREAS, Corporate Air, LLC is the ninth largest aircraft management company in the United States, offering charter services, aircraft management, and aircraft sales from its offices at the Allegheny County Airport. Additionally, Corporate Air is a full-service FBO and aircraft maintenance facility, known for its individualized attention to customers and friendly atmosphere; and
WHEREAS, also operating out of the Allegheny County Airport is Voyager Jet Center, providing world-class executive aircraft management and charter service to its customers in the Mid-Atlantic Region. They offer unparalleled personalized service that is safe, secure, reliable and confidential; and
WHEREAS, CJ Systems Aviation Group is a leading provider of air medical services in the United States. Operating a fleet of approximately 120 helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft, CJ Systems manages air medical services for hospitals and communities at more than 85 base site facilities nationwide. The company employs more than 600 people across the United States and is headquartered at the Allegheny County Airport; and
WHEREAS, the Allegheny County Airport also serves as the base for the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics, Pittsburgh Flight Training Center, STAT MedEvac, and the Allegheny Flying Club;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby join in celebrating the momentous occasion of the Allegheny County Airport's 75th Anniversary. This Council recognizes and thanks the Allegheny County Airport Authority for its leadership and professionalism in managing the internationally-acclaimed Allegheny County Airport.
