Body

WHEREAS, Tri-Community South EMS, established in 1973 and located in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, provides emergency medical services with highly trained and state-licensed medical personnel 24 hours a day seven days a week, in a jointly-owned and operated program with the Municipality of Bethel Park, and the Townships of South Park and Upper St. Clair; and

WHEREAS, the Commission for the Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) is an independent, non-profit organization comprised of EMS and health care experts, established to encourage and promote quality patient care in America's medical transportation system; and

WHEREAS, in April of 2006, CAAS awarded a three-year accreditation to Tri-Community South EMS, the longest period for which CAAS grants accreditation, and shows that Tri-Community South met or exceeded the most stringent standards in all operational and administrative areas, in personnel, equipment, policies and procedures, documentation, and community responsibility; and

WHEREAS, Tri-Community South EMS is the fourth service in Pennsylvania, and one of the very few municipally-owned services in the nation, to achieve this accreditation.  To date, only 102 ambulance services in the U.S. and Canada have been granted CAAS accreditation;
