Proclamation commending the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of Moon Township for conducting the Flag Retirement and September 11th Remembrance Ceremony on September 19, 2009.

WHEREAS, Allegheny County communities continually recognize the patriots of our country by conducting ceremonies that honor and remember those who have died in tragedies and in battle; and
WHEREAS, on September 19, 2009, the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of Moon Township host the Flag Retirement and September 11th Remembrance Ceremony; and
WHEREAS, the event gives local residents the opportunity to bring respectful attention and meditation to the victims who perished in the tragedy that occurred on September 11, 2001; and
WHEREAS, flags that have become worn and tattered from flying on poles around our county and our nation will be retired properly by local scouts as a tribute to the victims of September 11th, the United States Military, law enforcement agents, firefighters, and emergency responders; and
WHEREAS, those who serve our country and who reside in Allegheny County are properly honored during this ceremony in Moon Township, which so graciously exhibits to county residents the true essence of respecting our heroes;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, hereby commends the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of Moon Township for hosting the Flag Retirement and September 11th Remembrance Ceremony. The servicemen and women of our country deserve this type of quality ceremony, and we thank the citizens of Moon for their dedication to revering them.
