Proclamation recognizing National Family Week and the importance of families in building strong and healthy communities and honoring the National Alliance for Children and Families and its local partnering organization, the Penn State Cooperative Extension in Allegheny County and their partners for helping families create a better future for our County.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Allegheny County recognizes strong families are at the center of strong communities; and

 

                     WHEREAS, everyone has a role to play in making families successful, including neighborhood organizations, businesses, nonprofits, policymakers, and of course, families themselves; and

 

                     WHEREAS, during Thanksgiving week we all should take time to honor the importance of families and recognize the special connections that support and strengthen families year-round; and

 

                     WHEREAS, we all should recommit to enhancing and extending all families' connections; and

 

                     WHEREAS, with the assistance and resources of agencies and organizations such as the National Alliance for Children and Families and its local partnering organizations, Penn State Cooperative Extension in Allegheny County, the Allegheny County Library Association, National Fatherhood Initiative, The Pittsburgh Children's Museum and the UPMC Sportsworks at the Carnegie Science Center, we can help families of all shapes and sizes help create a better future for all of our county;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of Allegheny County does herby proclaim November 20 through November 26, 2005 National Family Week in Allegheny County, and this Council commits observance to the residents of Allegheny County.
