Allegheny County Council is proud to present this Certificate of Recognition to The Honorable Jean Fink for her service to the Pittsburgh Board of Public Education. The Board is the policy-making body for the school district, which operates 65 schools with 5,180 full-time employees and serves 29,445 students with an operating budget of $533.6 million. Ms. Fink served on the first ever elected board in 1976. During her tenure, Ms. Fink served as President of the School Board, and was a strong advocate for neighborhood schools. She also served as Chair of the Business Affairs, Pupil Services, Personnel, Facilities, Strategic Planning, and the Urban Boards of Education Committees. Ms. Fink has earned the respect and gratitude of so many for her professional achievements, tireless work ethic, and for her outspoken advocacy on behalf of her community and the school district. After serving on the Pittsburgh Board of Public Education for thirty-three years, Jean Fink retired on December 2, 2013. We hereby recognize and honor Ms. Fink for her tireless devotion to public service as a member of the Pittsburgh Board of Public Education and we wish her all the best upon her well-deserved retirement.
