Proclamation congratulating Charles Rompala for being named a "Superstar of Transit" by the Pennsylvania Public Transportation Association.

WHEREAS, the Pennsylvania Public Transportation Association recently held its 33rd annual Spring Conference and Expo in Hershey, PA, during which Allegheny County Port Authority employee Charles Rompala was named a “Superstar of Transit”; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Rompala, Port Authority Assistant Manager of Road Operations, was nominated by Port Authority CEO Stephen Bland for his exemplary work ethic and dedication to serving Port Authority customers; and
WHEREAS, in 1993, Mr. Rompala began his career with the Port Authority, working as a bus operator on nearly every bus and rail route at all hours of the day and night; and
WHEREAS, because of the knowledge that he developed during his time as a bus operator and his commitment to excellence, Mr. Rompala has excelled in his current position as Assistant Manager of Road Operations; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Rompala is responsible for coordinating and managing more than 600 detours and 50 special service moves each year. His commitment to success was highly visible during this past winter's ice storms, as he worked relentlessly to ensure the availability of bus and light rail service for Port Authority customers; and
WHEREAS, in addition to managing road operations, Mr. Rompala represents the Port Authority during weekly and monthly meetings with local, state, and federal officials and agencies regarding projects and initiatives that impact the Port Authority on a daily basis;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Allegheny County Council congratulates Mr. Charles Rompala for being named a “Superstar of Transit” by the Pennsylvania Public Transportation Association. We commend you and thank you for your commitment to serving Allegheny County Port Authority customers with the utmost integrity and professionalism.
