Proclamation recognizing and commending Tri-Community South EMS for their dedication to the safety and well-being of their community.

WHEREAS, Tri-Community South EMS serves the communities of Bethel Park, South Park and Upper St. Clair and is responsible for the emergency medical/disaster needs of over 78,000 residents in an area of 33.5 square miles; and

WHEREAS, Tri-Community South is the second largest EMS agency in Allegheny County. It is nationally recognized and received an award from the National Center for Early Defibrillation for having the Best AED (automatic external defibrillation) Program in the United States for a small community; and

WHEREAS, Tri-Community South EMS, which functions as an American Heart Association Community Training Center, was recently ranked No. 1 in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for number of people trained in CPR and other advanced life support courses. Tri-Community South EMS is routinely in the top five community training centers in the Atlantic Territory; and

WHEREAS, Tri-Community South EMS is actively involved in PA Region 13 Disaster Planning on a local, county, state, and federal level. Most of their employees are members of PA DMAT-1 Team. They are one of the original members of PA CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management) Team and were called in to handle the CISM in incidents involving the City of Pittsburgh Firefighters as well as at the scene of emergencies at Shanksville, Kennywood, and the Flight 427 crash; and

WHEREAS, Tri-Community South EMS is a training center for Community College of Allegheny County and the Center for Emergency Medicine. Tri-Community South EMS was selected as the only EMS agency by the Center for Emergency Medicine to provide the field training for paramedic students from South Korea;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council hereby recognizes and commends Tri-Community South EMS for its dedication and commitment to the sa...
