Proclamation recognizing Mrs. Helen Donato Tozzi, Manager of the McKeesport Drill Team (Drum & Bugle Corps) and celebrating the team's exceptional 40 year history.
Body
WHEREAS, from 1947-1987, the McKeesport Drill Team; Drum and Bugle Corps participated in 1,600 parades, field and stage shows, winning hundreds of trophies, awards, citations and plaques; and
WHEREAS, the McKeesport Drill Team; Drum and Bugle Corps performed in those 40 years an invaluable service for the immediate McKeesport community, the widespread area in which the Drill Team traveled and performed, and the thousands of committed young people who made each of those performances memorable; and
WHEREAS, the McKeesport Drill Team; Drum and Bugle Corps was only made possible through the persevering efforts of dozens of individuals who selflessly dedicated their time and talents to its continued existence, most notably its Founder, Helen Donato Tozzi; and
WHEREAS, the McKeesport Drill Team; Drum and Bugle Corps is by rights an integral part of the community heritage of the City of McKeesport and Allegheny County;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize the McKeesport Drill Team; Drum and Bugle Corp for its dedication to the residents of Allegheny County, as well as its singular impact on our community's spirit and the hearts of our citizens. The McKeesport Drill Team; Drum and Bugle Corps offered its members a place and a way to celebrate themselves and delight those around them through the mediums of music and dance. This positive, meaningful contribution deserves the Council's commendation and our heartfelt appreciation.
