Motion Expressing the Sense of Council of Allegheny County requesting that the Administration allow those property owners whose property value was affected by the flooding of Hurricane Ivan to have the opportunity to change the valuation of their property before the 2006 values are determined.

                     WHEREAS, the flooding caused by Hurricane Ivan has affected the valuation of many properties in Allegheny County; and

 

                     WHEREAS, the flooding caused by Hurricane Ivan changed the value of many properties in Allegheny County, and to correct any possible inequities, and to prevent an improper valuation in 2005 of those properties affected by the flooding, this Sense of Council Motion will allow those property owners to pay taxes based on the proper valuation after the flooding, rather than the valuation before; accordingly,

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS MOVED, AND IT IS THE SENSE OF THE COUNCIL OF ALLEGHENY COUNTY,  that the Administration is requested to allow those property owners who valuation was affected by the flooding of Hurricane Ivan to have to opportunity to have the value of their home adjusted through the administrative change process before their 2006 property value is determined.  Such opportunity should exist through April 30, 2005.
