Proclamation commending Community Human Services for hosting the Sleep-In for the Homeless.

WHEREAS, Allegheny County Council recognizes the unique people who profoundly impact our communities by providing exceptional services to fellow citizens who are in need of assistance; and
WHEREAS, homelessness affects a vast array of people, and Community Human Services (CHS) has displayed the dedication and desire to win the battle against this perilous issue to improve the lives of those fighting it; and
WHEREAS, on October 9, 2009, CHS will hold the “Sleep-In for the Homeless” in the City-County Building in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, organizers anticipate raising enough funds to hire a full-time nurse who will visit free health clinics to provide medical care to homeless individuals who have no health care insurance; and
WHEREAS, we commend CHS for creating this opportunity to open a dialogue about homelessness that is aimed at improving the welfare of fellow Allegheny County citizens;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Allegheny County Council hereby commends Community Human Services and the participants of the “Sleep-In for the Homeless.” Your commitment to raising awareness and funding for the homeless men, women and children of our region is an inspiration to the members of this Council and to all the residents of Allegheny County.
