Proclamation recognizing the efforts of the University of Pittsburgh's Institute of Politics and celebrating the 10^th Anniversary of the Annual Elected Officials Retreat.

Body

WHEREAS, in 1987, the University of Pittsburgh created the Institute of Politics, an independent, community-supported nonprofit organization, helping address regional policy concerns; and

WHEREAS, 2006 marks the 10^th year anniversary of the Institute of Politics Annual Elected Officials Retreat; and

WHEREAS, the goal of the retreat is to propel dialogue on critical regional issues and open the lines of communication among elected officials from different levels of government and other community participants; and

WHEREAS, the Institute is focused on ensuring elected officials involvement in the development, design and implementation of all program activities; 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council does hereby join the Institute of Politics in celebrating the occasion of their 10^th Anniversary of the Annual Elected Officials Retreat.  This Council thanks the Institute for their wisdom in providing a forum for elected officials, foundation, community and business leaders that all strive to improve the quality of life, government efficiency, and economic vitality in Allegheny County and throughout the region.
