TITLE
ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT OF $750,000.00 FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, OFFICE OF COMMUNITY ORIENTED POLICING SERVICES FOR THE ALLEGHENY COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE.
BODY
SECTION 1.
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Justice through the 2002 Technology Grant Program administered by the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services makes funds available for the continued development of technologies and automated systems to assist state and local law enforcement agencies in investigating, responding to and preventing crime. This funding allows recipients the opportunity to establish and enhance a variety of technical equipment and/or programs to encourage the continuation and enhancement of community policing efforts within their jurisdictions; and
WHEREAS, the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office anticipates being awarded funding from this program for the Regional Booking Centers.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF ALLEGHENY HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
The Allegheny County Council in accordance with Article IV, Section 2 (j) of the Allegheny County Home Rule Charter hereby accepts the anticipated granted funds in the amount of $750,000.00 on behalf of the County and requests that the appropriate parties execute the proper administrative processes to secure the grant.
SECTION 2.
If any provision of this Ordinance shall be determined to be unlawful, invalid, void or unenforceable, then that provision shall be considered severable from the remaining provisions of this Ordinance which shall be in full force and effect.
SECTION 3.
Any Resolution or Ordinance or part thereof conflicting with the provisions of this Ordinance is hereby repealed so far as the same affects this Resolution.
