Proclamation declaring May 24, 2014 as "Light of Life Rescue Mission Day" in Allegheny County.

WHEREAS, founded in 1952, the Light of Life Rescue Mission, formerly known as the Harbor of Hope, served as a refuge for transient men in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, the Mission, located on Pittsburgh's North Side, eventually expanded its services to include programs to serve women and children; and
WHEREAS, Light of Life meets the immediate needs of the poor and homeless, empowers men and women to achieve Christ-centered recovery, and helps strengthen families; and
WHEREAS, on May 24, 2014, former Pittsburgh Steelers and current sports broadcasters Tunch Ilkin and Craig Wolfley will host the 12th annual Tunch & Wolf's "Walk for the Homeless" at Heinz Field with a walk along the beautiful North Shore trails with proceeds to benefit the Light of Life Rescue Mission;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council does hereby declare May 24, 2014 as "Light of Life Rescue Mission Day" in Allegheny County. We thank the Light of Life Rescue Mission for serving those in need for more than 60 years and enhancing the quality of life for countless individuals in the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County.
