Proclamation honoring Mr. Robert Eagleson, Electrical Construction Trades Instructor, Steel Center Area Vocational Technical School for being named the 2005 Outstanding Career and Technical Education Teacher by the Pennsylvania Association of Career and Technical Education.

WHEREAS, since 2000, Mr. Robert Eagleson has been the Electrical Construction Trades Instructor at the Steel Center Area Vocational Technical School (AVTS) located in Jefferson Hills, Allegheny County, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, on June 29, 2005, the Pennsylvania Association of Career & Technical Education (PA-ACTE) honored Mr. Eagleson by naming him the 2005 Outstanding Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher; and

WHEREAS, Instructor Eagleson has developed a solid Electrical Program, gaining input from the students and involving them in group projects. He respects students and easily inspires them, and there has been such a demand to enroll in his course that the Steel Center AVTS had to place some students on a waiting list; and

WHEREAS, in the past four years, young women are showing an interest in the electrical construction field and enrolling in Mr. Eagleson's course. Several of his students are currently in the Local 5 Electrical Workers Union Apprentice Program, and in the past five years, three of his students were selected as the Steel Center “Vocational-Technical Student of the Year”; and

WHEREAS, Instructor Eagleson created an advisory committee, setting an example for other instructors, that includes students and representation from union, trade associations, businesses and postsecondary education. The committee serves as a forum to discuss the latest information and resources impacting career and technical education;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council hereby congratulates Mr. Robert Eagleson for being named the Pennsylvania Association of Career & Technical Education, 2005 Outstanding Career...
