Proclamation recognizing American Urban Radio Networks for hosting the 35th Annual SBN Sports Network Black College All-American Weekend.

 

Body

WHEREAS,  the American Urban Radio Networks has hosted the Black College All-American Football Awards banquet for 35 years to celebrate the accomplishments of athletes from historically black colleges and universities; and

 

WHEREAS, the radio network selects an all-American team comprised of the best football players from the nation's black colleges; and

 

WHEREAS, the network assembles an honorary committee of football players from the National Football League, providing the young athletes in attendance the opportunity to encounter a group of caliber role models that have led stellar lives and admirable careers; and

 

WHEREAS, the network awards scholarships to the schools in the name of the offensive and defensive players of the year, the coach of the year, and the black college national championship team to further the educational values of the involved schools; and

 

WHEREAS, American Urban Radio Networks, the nation's only African-American owned radio network company, has continued the tradition of supporting America's historically black colleges and universities by hosting a celebratory forum;

 

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that this Council, on behalf of the citizens of Allegheny, commends American Urban Radio Networks for their support of black colleges and their great athletes. Furthermore, we hope that other broadcasting companies follow your honorable leadership.
