Proclamation recognizing and congratulating Head Football Coach Jim Render, Upper St. Clair High School, for his 35 years of coaching, obtaining his 300th win and for his numerous conference, district and state honors.
Body
WHEREAS, Allegheny County has been blessed with individuals such as Jim Render who have dedicated their lives to enhancing the quality of life in our neighborhoods and the community as a whole; and
WHEREAS, Jim's head coaching career in football began in 1970 at Carrollton, Ohio, followed by seven years in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, with each school earning a championship in Coach Render's final year; and
WHEREAS, in 1979, he became Head Coach for the Upper St. Clair High School Football Team and is well known and respected for his championship seasons, winning 16 conference titles and winning 4 WPIAL Championships; and
WHEREAS, Jim's Upper St. Clair Team is 3 for 3 in state semi-final games with a State Championship won with Pennsylvania's first ever 15-0 record in 1989, runner-up honors were earned in 1992 and 1997, and in October, 2005 Coach Render earned his 300th win; and
WHEREAS, he served as Head Coach (1993) and Assistant Coach (1990) in the BIG 33 Football Classic claiming Pennsylvania victories, and he was the West Coach (2003) for the Pennsylvania East-West All-Star Game, he serves on the PSFCA Board of Directors and is actively involved in several projects with the BIG 33 Football Classic; and
WHEREAS, Coach Render has been inducted in both the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Hall of Fame (1998) and the Western Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame (2005);
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize and congratulate Jim Render for his 35 years of coaching, his 300th win and for his numerous conference, district and state honors.
