Title

Proclamation congratulating the 2007 Local Government Academy graduates.

 

Body

WHEREAS, for the past eleven years, the Local Government Academy has sponsored the Municipal Intern Program for college and graduate students; and

 

                     WHEREAS, students who participate in the program gain invaluable experience with municipal governments, councils of governments, and municipal authorities in Allegheny County; and

 

                     WHEREAS, during the course of the program, students have completed internships with diverse subject matter concentrations, such as financial management, human resources, geographic information systems, comprehensive planning, economic development, intergovernmental cooperation, planning and zoning, and code enforcement; and

 

                     WHEREAS, by providing these experiences to individuals, fostering their interest in local government, and helping to train the next generation of local leaders, the Local Government Academy has provided invaluable assistance to the governments within Allegheny County, as well as to the citizens of the County;

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council recognizes and commends the vision of the local municipalities that provided a Municipal Internship opportunity in 2007; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council hereby salutes the achievement, scholarship and dedication of the students who completed their internships and provided assistance to municipalities throughout the County.  Their enthusiastic willingness in pursuing this endeavor demonstrates their commitment to serving the people of the region, and for this we commend them.
