Body
WHEREAS, Allegheny County is blessed to have countless men and women who are willing to risk their lives in the name of freedom; and
 
      WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Patrick F. Kutschbach was killed in action while serving in Afghanistan on November 10, 2007; and
      
WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Kutschbach was serving with Operational Detachment- Alpha 021 of Company B, 1st Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), which was based out of Germany and which, at the time of his death, was conducting combat operations in the southern end of the Tagab Valley in Afghanistan; and
 
WHEREAS, an Allegheny County native, Staff Sgt. Kutschbach graduated from Montour High School in 2000 and last year, at the age of 25, was proudly serving the United States in his first deployment to Afghanistan; and
 
      WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Kutschbach has received multiple decorations and awards, including the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart, the Meritorious Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal; and
 
WHEREAS, Staff Sgt. Kutschbach will be most fondly remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, son, friend, and soldier;
 
 
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Allegheny County Council wishes to honor the late Staff Sgt. Patrick F. Kutschbach for giving his own life in order to save the lives and the freedom of so many others.  We are truly proud to recognize this American hero and we join with his family and friends in celebration of his life and service.
