Proclamation honoring Harold Lane for his service to the Castle Shannon Police Department and recognizing his advancement to a new investigations unit in the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office.

WHEREAS, Allegheny County is blessed to have leaders who risk their lives to protect the well-being of those they serve; and
WHEREAS, for nearly 39 years, Harold Lane proudly served within the Castle Shannon Police Department, spending the past 17 years as the chief of the department; and
WHEREAS, over his career, Mr. Lane bettered the department by obtaining updated technology and resources, establishing an investigations unit and a commercial vehicle inspection unit, designing and developing a departmental policy and procedures, and acquiring K-9s; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Lane's impressive and expansive career allowed him to mentor and lead new officers to become exceptional protectors of the community; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Lane will bring his extended list of skills to Allegheny County as he heads a new investigations unit within the District Attorney's Office, where he will undoubtedly and selflessly protect the County;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Allegheny County Council hereby commends Harold Lane for his many years of service to the Castle Shannon Police Department. He has set a standard of excellence that serves as an inspiration to the members of this Council. We wholeheartedly thank him for his demonstrated commitment to protecting the residents of Allegheny County, and we wish him the best of luck in his new position.
