Proclamation honoring Joey Fabus, an 8-year old from Bethel Park, for his courage and bravery in the face of danger as he battles an inoperable brain tumor.

      WHEREAS, 8-year old Josef "Joey" Giovanni Fabus, son of David and Cindy Fabus, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor on May 15, 2014; and
 
WHEREAS, Joey's dream of becoming a police officer came true on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 when he became an honorary member of the Bethel Park Police Department; and
 
WHEREAS, dressed in a police uniform, tailored to his small size, Joey repeated the oath all officers take and was sworn in by District Judge Ron Arnoni. Bethel Park Police Officer Tom Rigatti acted as Joey's partner for the day; and
 
WHEREAS, family and friends wore camouflage T-shirts for "Little Joey's Army," a charity started by his godmother to help the family while Joey's father, David, stays home from work to care for Joey as he receives treatment from the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC; and
 
WHEREAS, the ceremony was witnessed by officers from Bethel Park, Upper St. Clair and the Bethel Park School District. Also, in full uniform was Joey's cousin, Joseph Fabus, a detective in Zone 3 of the City of Pittsburgh Police Department; and
 
WHEREAS, Tuesday, June 24, 2014 was designated as "Joey Fabus Day" in the Municipality of Bethel Park by Bethel Park Mayor Jack Allen;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council does hereby honor Joey Fabus for the courage, bravery and valor he has demonstrated in the face of danger; our prayers go out to the Fabus family and friends, and we thank the Bethel Park community for rallying around Joey and his family as they fight this battle.
