A Proclamation recognizing and honoring Ms. Joanne Cook, Director of Brentwood Emergency Medical Services, for the dedication in her name of Medic 531, a new Lifeline Ambulance, as well as for her consistent commitment and dedication to the citizens of her community.
Body
WHEREAS, Allegheny County is blessed with individuals and organizations dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in their neighborhood and the community as a whole; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Joanne Cook, Director of Brentwood Emergency Medical Services (EMS), since 1981, began her career at Brentwood EMS in 1979; and
WHEREAS, under Ms. Cook's leadership, Brentwood EMS obtained a fleet of four (4) vehicles, managed the transition to a partially paid membership while still maintaining a strong volunteer core, and initiated the Annual Subscription Drive, VASC Certification and the Chartering of the Organization; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Cook was named the South Hills Record “Citizen of the Year” in 1989, “Paramedic of the Year” for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1991, and was also named the “VFW Post 1810 Person of the Year” for 1991; and
WHEREAS, in recognition for her continuing dedication and in honor of her past service, Brentwood EMS has decided to dedicate Medic 531, a new ambulance vehicle, to Ms. Cook;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby commend and congratulate Ms. Joanne Cook for receiving the dedication of Medic 531, a Lifeline Ambulance, an honor bestowed upon her by Brentwood Emergency Medical Services. Ms. Cook's commitment to her neighborhood and its citizens serves as an inspiration to us all.
