WHEREAS, Mr. Martin F. Palma has placed his stamp of character and hard work throughout Allegheny County, and is being honored for his 40 years of dedicated service to the Borough of Mount Oliver; and

WHEREAS, Marty, a dedicated husband of 53 years to his wife, Leona, father of four and grandfather of eleven, has been a lifetime resident of the Borough of Mount Oliver. He was elected to Borough Council on January 3, 1966, where he served honorably through 2005. He served on various committees, was Chairman of Finance, Appointed Vice-President of Council and is now ending his 40 years of service as President of Council; and

WHEREAS, he took an active part in planning the Brownsville Road Revitalization, worked on Community Day Celebration, is a member of the American Legion Post 540 and serves on the Board of Directors of the Ormsby Manor Apartments; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Palma was employed for the Allegheny County Prothonotary's Office for 33 years, a representative of the Allegheny County Bar Association Rules Committee and retired as First Deputy in 1992. He is Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, is a volunteer of the Recreation Association, Chamber of Commerce, Ambulance Committee and was Coach for Mt. Oliver Little League Baseball; and

WHEREAS, in 1989, Marty was honored by the Chamber of Commerce for distinguished service, received the Loyalty Day Award in 1996 and was named “Man of the Year” in 2001 by the Mt. Oliver Hook & Ladder;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council hereby congratulates and commends Martin F. Palma for his 40 years of dedication and commitment to public service. This Council wishes him all the best on his well-deserved retirement as President of the Borough of Mount Oliver Council and joins his family and friends in celebrating this momentous occasion wi...
