Proclamation honoring the Brashear Association on their historic 90th anniversary in Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, The Brashear Association, Incorporated, a United Way agency, has been a vital part of Pittsburgh's South Side and the surrounding neighborhoods since 1917; and
WHEREAS, the Association provides various services for youth, including educational enrichment programs, arts education, summer programs, as well as tutoring and mentoring programs; and
WHEREAS, the Association also provides senior nutrition programs, adult day care, support and self-help groups for senior citizens; and
WHEREAS, the Association works collectively with various agencies through the South Consortium, the South Side Planning Forum, the Senior Services Consortium, and most recently, the South Pittsburgh Coalition for Peace to combat the needs and issues that most severely affect the residents of Pittsburgh's South Side and its surrounding neighborhoods;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council celebrates and honors The Brashear Association, Incorporated on its 90th anniversary. The organization's unending commitment to building strong families and communities serves as an inspiration to us all.
