Proclamation celebrating the historic 75th anniversary of the Mt. Lebanon Public Library.

WHEREAS, in 1932, the Mt. Lebanon Lions Club proposed a town library, which has grown to distinguish itself as one of the premier libraries in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, the Mt. Lebanon Public Library operates with the mission of providing informational resources, programs, and services for the personal enrichment, education, and enjoyment of all citizens and for the betterment of the community; and
WHEREAS, throughout its 75 years, the Mt. Lebanon Public Library has charitably donated its services to assist those in need. During World War II, the library collected books for overseas soldiers and more recently, the library has utilized generous donations in order to provide the public with meeting rooms, alcoves for casual reading, additional seating, and computer access; and
WHEREAS, the Mt. Lebanon Public Library planned a 75th anniversary celebration on November 16th and 17th that featured National Public Library's favorite librarian, Nancy Pearl, as well as various musical, artistic, film, and reading performances by area professionals and will continue the celebration with a “Once Upon a Time”- themed gala, to be held at the South Hills Country Club on November 30th;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby join in celebrating Mt. Lebanon Library's 75th Anniversary. Furthermore, this Council recognizes the library for its dedication to serving the community, and acting as an inspiration to this Council and the residents of Allegheny County.
