Body...

WHEREAS, Mr. Taris A. Vrcek, Executive Director of the McKees Rocks Community Development Corporation (CDC), along with the Borough of McKees Rocks Planning Commission and support from the Borough of McKees Rocks and the Allegheny County Department of Economic Development and many other community stakeholders, helped to create a strategic revitalization plan for the Borough of McKees Rocks; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Vrcek was instrumental in attracting Trinity Commercial Development, LLC for the Shoppes at Chartiers Crossing (formerly McKees Rocks Plaza) redevelopment project. WHEREAS, thanks to Mr. Vrcek and the MRCDC, the historic Roxian Theater, located at 425 Chartiers Avenue, will reopen as a concert and performance venue with a capacity of 1,500 helping to fill a void in the Pittsburgh market for mid-sized concerts; and

WHEREAS, in the "McKees Rocks Flats," the P&LE Complex broke ground in the spring of 2013, after a decade-long effort led by Mr. Vrcek and the MRCDC to transform the P&LE Railroad brownfield site, a 52-acre property;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council does hereby honor Mr. Taris A. Vrcek for his dedication to the revitalization of the Borough of McKees Rocks, and for restoring community pride and enhancing the quality of life for the residents of McKees Rocks.
