Proclamation honoring Mr. Steve Blass for hitting two hole-in-one golf shots in the same 18-hole round.

WHEREAS, Allegheny County is privileged to serve as the home to former and current athletes who accomplish extraordinary feats and outstanding successes; and
WHEREAS, on September 10, 2009, Mr. Steve Blass - the former Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher - hit two holes-in-one during the same 18-hole round of golf at the Greensburg Country Club; and
WHEREAS, the odds of hitting two holes-in-one in the same round are approximately 1-in-67 million; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Blass utilized an 8-iron on his first hole-in-one, which was hit at the 154-yard 15th hole, and a 7-iron on his second hole-in-one shot, which occurred at the 175-yard seventh hole; and
WHEREAS, while our community recognizes Mr. Blass for his amazing pitching career with the Pirates, the citizens of our County will now add this outstanding accomplishment to his long-list of respected achievements;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, commends Mr. Steve Blass for hitting two holes-in-one golf shots on September 10, 2009 at the Greensburg Country Club. This rare occurrence has placed Mr. Blass in our County's golf lore. We congratulate him on this thrilling feat, and we hope, someday, that he will hit two more perfect golf shots.
