Proclamation commending the organizers of the Kevin Frenock Memorial Hockey Tournament.

WHEREAS, on Saturday, June 21, 2008, Kevin Frenock of Pleasant Hills lost his life in an automobile accident; and

WHEREAS, a loving son, brother, and friend, Kevin was also an avid hockey fan and deck hockey player; and

WHEREAS, as a tribute to their friend and teammate, Kevin's deck hockey team coordinated the Kevin Frenock Memorial Hockey Tournament, which was held on August 2, 2008 at the South Park Roller Hockey Rink facility; and

WHEREAS, the event included games, attractions, and a raffle that offered autographed hockey sticks from the Pittsburgh Penguins' Kris Letang and Darryl Sydor, Penguins' tickets, Pittsburgh Pirates' tickets, and gift cards to local dining establishments; and

WHEREAS, the tournament was a community effort, with many individuals, families and organizations including Danny Pistelli, Chad Matuszak, the Ackman Family, Larry Ross from All State, Pleasant Bar, Bowser Pontiac Buick GMC, Inc., Matuszak Brothers Electric, and Backdraft providing instrumental support in the planning and execution of the event; and

WHEREAS, the tournament raised an astounding $7,215, which was donated to the Mario Lemieux Foundation, which funds and supports Pittsburgh-area and national medical research organizations;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Allegheny County Council hereby commends the organizers of the Kevin Frenock Memorial Tournament for their dedication to celebrating the life of Kevin Frenock by supporting such a worthwhile cause.  Your actions serve as an inspiration to the members of this Council and to all the residents of Allegheny County.
