Proclamation recognizing the community outreach of Bon-Ami Temple No. 49.

 

Body

WHEREAS, our county is blessed with individuals and organizations that are dedicated to improving the community's quality of life through worthy endeavors; and

 

WHEREAS, the Bon-Ami Temple No. 49 of the Daughters of Elk is part of the Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks of the World, a fraternal organization that has helped to fulfill various cultural and social achievements throughout its history; and

 

WHEREAS, the organization's Annual Community Awards Banquet will be held on April 4, 2009 to honor selected outstanding citizens for their accomplishments and services to their fellow community members; and

 

WHEREAS, the selfless and public-spirited citizens who will be recognized with awards include Ms. Adaration Boyd, owner of Rosing Tavern and Grill, Mr. Elbert S. Hatley, Vice President of Government and Institutional Development at Ebony Development, LLC, and Ms. Eugenia Moore, President of Wilkinsburg Borough Council; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. Elk, Brother Howard Moore, Esteemed Leading Knight, North Side Lodge #124 and Ms. Elk, Daughter Olive Henderson, Past Granddaughter Ruler, Ruth Temple #116 will also be recognized in the ceremony;

 

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of the county, hereby commends the Daughter Ruler and all of the members of Bon-Ami Temple No. 49 for their compassion and generous charity work in one of America's most livable communities. Furthermore, we congratulate the 2009 award winners, whose fervor toward their respective fields of endeavor serve as an inspiration to us all.
