Proclamation celebrating Borough of Whitehall's Community Day.

WHEREAS, the 19th annual Borough of Whitehall 5K Race and Community Day will be held on August 29, 2009 at Brennan Plaza and Snyder Park; and
WHEREAS, the event, which will be held over the course of the entire day, is aimed at uniting the community by providing games, prizes, rides, music and food to the residents; and
WHEREAS, the 2009 celebration of the community honors a number of Hometown Heroes, including the borough's Fire Company, Police and Public Works Department, and the ambulance service - Medical Rescue Team South Authority - that serves Whitehall; and
WHEREAS, the event will also include performances by the Pittsburgh Firefighters Memorial Pipe Band, dance groups and Puppets for Pittsburgh; in addition, Larry Richert of KDKA will be a special guest and will help raise funds for the Whitehall Fire Company at the Dunk a Councilman or Police Officer Booth; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of the County, joins with the residents of the Borough of Whitehall in celebrating the 19th annual 5K Race and Community Day. Furthermore, we thank all of the individuals involved in organizing this event for providing the residents of the Whitehall with the opportunity to develop and strengthen their bonds with their fellow community members.
