Proclamation recognizing and commending the Steel Valley Council of Governments and the “EAGLE-One” Board of Directors for its positive action in making all levels of government more effective in service to our citizens

WHEREAS, Allegheny County is blessed with individuals and organizations dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our neighborhood and the community as a whole; and
WHEREAS, the Steel Valley Council of Governments (SVCOG) was formed in 1973 and has worked for 31 years to promote intergovernmental cooperation among its member municipalities; and
WHEREAS, since its inception, SVCOG has fostered communication, cooperation, and coordination of federal, state, county, and municipal governmental services; and
WHEREAS, SVCOG has been, and continues to be, an active partner with the County of Allegheny in the provision of municipal services to the citizens of Allegheny County, particularly those citizens of the Mon Valley
WHEREAS, such provision of services was most recently demonstrated through the dedication of a Mon Valley Outreach Office that will be utilized by Allegheny County for constituent services; and
WHEREAS, the SVCOG, in cooperation with the Office of the District Attorney, Office of the County Coroner's Forensic Laboratories Division, and nine municipalities in the Mon Valley (West Homestead, Homestead, Munhall, Duquesne, North Versailles, McKeesport, Elizabeth Township, White Oak and West Mifflin) has recently been recognized by The Honorable Ed Rendell, Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, for exemplary efforts in promoting “Intergovernmental Cooperation” through the development of the “EAGLE-One,” Eastern Allegheny County Law Enforcement Project; and
WHEREAS, SVCOG's administration of the EAGLE-One Mobile Crime Scene Investigation Unit has created a tremendous opportunity for municipalities to have police personnel trained on crime scene inves...
