Proclamation designating May 7th and 8th as “Physical Fitness & Sports Days” in Allegheny County and recognizing the Fame and Model Expo for raising the level of awareness of national physical fitness and sports in this region.

WHEREAS, in recognition of May as the National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, the Pittsburgh area will celebrate “Physical Fitness & Sports Days” on May 7th and 8th as part of the Fame and Model Expo (FAME) to be held at the Monroeville ExpoMart; and
WHEREAS, the Fame and Model Expo (FAME) recognizes and showcases local athletes, performers, dancers, and fitness competitors, in addition to providing a forum for health conscious people and fitness enthusiasts to expand their own knowledge as spectators, consumers, competitors, exhibitors, industry experts, talent scouts, and sports celebrities; and
WHEREAS, this unique, multifaceted extravaganza encompasses all aspects of health, wellness, extreme sports, modeling, and fitness into a one of a kind expo displaying competition and demonstrations in body building, fitness pageants, beauty pageants, weight lifting, martial arts, arm wrestling, extreme sports, jiu-jitsu, dance, and fitness modeling; and
WHEREAS, the Fitness Festival is expected to attract 10,000 spectators, athletes, and competitors ranging from the general public to international fans to the region, raising awareness of physical fitness and health consciousness to residents and visitors alike; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Allegheny County Council hereby proclaims May 7th and 8th as “Physical Fitness & Sports Days” in Allegheny County and recognizes the Fame and Model Expo for raising the level of awareness of national physical fitness and sports in this region.
