Proclamation recognizing Officer Lenny Mesarchik for being named the Forest Hills 2008 Citizen of the Year by the Woodland Progress.

WHEREAS, Allegheny County is blessed to have individuals such as Officer Lenny Mesarchik who go above and beyond the call of duty to protect and serve our residents; and
WHEREAS, Officer Mesarchik was recently named “Citizen of the Year 2008” by the Woodland Progress for his work as a police officer with the Forest Hills Police Department and for his commitment to community service in the Forest Hills area; and
WHEREAS, after working in the Swissvale and Braddock Hills police departments, Mesarchik began serving with Forest Hills in 1998 and has spent the past decade protecting his local residents; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his work with the police department, Officer Mesarchik spends a great deal of time volunteering in the community, driving the Flivver, a bus for senior citizens in the borough who have no other mode of transportation and stopping by the homes of many senior citizens in the borough to see if they require any assistance; and
WHEREAS, his volunteer efforts also include teaching local children about safety and organizing events such as the annual fall hayride to bring together residents, officials, and public safety personnel;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, Allegheny County Council is proud to recognize Forest Hills Police Officer Lenny Mesarchik for being named “Citizen of the Year 2008” by the Woodland Progress. Your willingness to serve your community is commendable, and we thank you for making Forest Hills a better place to live.
