WHEREAS, there are currently 32 active boards, authorities, commissions and committees in Allegheny County, with hundreds of members, to which the Chief Executive and County Council make appointments from time to time; and

WHEREAS, both the Chief Executive and Council have repeatedly and consistently articulated the desire to appoint only individuals of the highest qualification to these boards, authorities and committees; and

WHEREAS, both the Chief Executive and Council have also remained steadfast in their respective commitments to foster diversity within each County entity through their appointment choices; and

WHEREAS, tracking the terms and qualifications of the hundreds of appointees to County entities has become increasingly complex and time-consuming;

The Council of the County of Allegheny hereby resolves as follows:

SECTION 1.

The Council of the County of Allegheny, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, wishes to create a draft Appointment Tracking Policy for Allegheny County to be presented for review to the Council and Chief Executive within forty-five (45) days of passage of this motion; with the expectation that Council and the Chief Executive will review the policy and act upon its recommendations within thirty (30) days of their receipt of the policy.

SECTION 2.
