Proclamation honoring Brentwood Emergency Medical Services upon the occasion of their 30th anniversary.

WHEREAS, on December 1, 2007, Brentwood EMS celebrated its 30th Anniversary with a dinner held at Salvatore's of Little Giant World of Catering; and
WHEREAS, the Brentwood EMS was founded in 1977 by seven volunteer fireman, who later became Brentwood EMS's first EMT's and who initially used a converted ambulance which also doubled as a police patrol vehicle; and
WHEREAS, in 1979, Brentwood EMS was restructured in order to provide for the election of its first set of officers. In 1980, they were able to purchase their first Advance Life Support Ambulance, which offered them the opportunity to provide vital advanced services to their community. Two years later, their first paramedics completed their training through CCAC; and
WHEREAS, in 1984, Brentwood EMS was officially incorporated as a non-profit organization. Since its inception, an abundance of paid and volunteer workers have striven to follow their mission statement, “…to assist in any medical emergency that may happen upon any resident of the Borough of Brentwood, any person or persons within it's boundaries, and any municipality's call upon our service in times of mutual aid or disaster”;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council, on behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, hereby recognizes and congratulates the Brentwood EMS upon the 30th anniversary of its service to the citizens of Brentwood. This Council commends Brentwood EMS's dedicated workers and volunteers for their commitment to leadership and excellence which serves as an inspiration to this Council and the citizens of Allegheny County.
