Proclamation honoring the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh National Achievers Society inductees on January 22, 2009.

WHEREAS, the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh will sponsor the National Achievers Society Induction Ceremony at Heinz Chapel on Thursday, January 22, 2009; and
WHEREAS, established in 1998 to encourage, recognize and reinforce achievement among African-American youth and other youth of color, the National Achievers Society has made a remarkably positive impact in communities throughout our nation; and
WHEREAS, by recognizing the accomplishments of these students, a motivating environment is created where great academic achievement can be attained; and
WHEREAS, the students who were inducted into the Urban League of Pittsburgh National Achievers Society are to be celebrated for their dedication to academic excellence. They serve as a fine example of the triumph which can be realized through commitment and hard work. The inductees hold the promise of a bright future for our communities and our entire nation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Allegheny County Council does hereby recognize and commend the inductees of the National Achievers Society. We congratulate you on your demonstrated achievement in school, in your community and in your personal life and further extend best wishes for continued success in the future.
