Proclamation recognizing and commending the Salvation Army for its steadfast efforts in assisting those affected by the recent flood caused by Hurricane Ivan.

 

Body

WHEREAS, in September of 2004, flooding caused by Hurricane Ivan wreaked havoc upon thousands of residents of Allegheny County; and 

 

WHEREAS, many of these residents were left homeless, hungry, despaired, and in desperate need of assistance; and

 

WHEREAS, The Salvation Army's only business in the County of Allegheny and worldwide is the human service business, undertaken with joy for the family of humankind; and 

WHEREAS the Salvation Army serves the people of Allegheny County with unshakable faith in all, regardless of situation; and

WHEREAS, the Salvation Army provided assistance to many of the flood victims of Allegheny County; and 

WHEREAS, The Salvation Army acts on behalf of all the residents of our community, without any condition prerequisite, not expecting thanks yet always welcoming community support.

NOW THEREFORE, the Council of Allegheny County, hereby recognizes and commends the Salvation army for its steadfast efforts in assisting those affected by the recent flood caused by Hurricane Ivan, and, on behalf of the citizens of Allegheny County, salute the men and women of the Salvation Army who bind up the broken hearted and renew the spirit of our communities by their quiet service of compassion.
