Proclamation recognizing the week of May 21-27, 2006 as National Public Works Week and expressing appreciation to Allegheny County's Department of Public Works for their efforts in improving the overall quality of life in this region.
Body
WHEREAS, for each of the last 46 years, the American Public Works Association has sponsored National Public Works Week in celebration of the tens of thousands of men and women who provide the infrastructure and services known as public works; and
WHEREAS, public works infrastructure, facilities and services are of vital importance to the health, safety and well-being of the people of the County of Allegheny; and
WHEREAS, such services could not be provided without the dedication of the public works professionals who are responsible for the services and facilities that are essential to our citizens; and
WHEREAS, the efficiency of the qualified and dedicated personnel who staff public works departments is materially influenced by people's attitudes and understanding of the importance of the work they perform;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council recognizes May 21-27, 2006 as National Public Works Week and commends the men and women of our Public Works Department. Allegheny County Council herby salutes and recognizes the accomplishments of our public works professionals and expresses its appreciation to them for their past and ongoing contributions to the community, and for their efforts to improve the overall quality of life in this region.
