Father John R. Haney

Whitehall Borough 2008 Citizen of the Year

This Certificate of Recognition is presented to Father John R. Haney in honor of his being named Whitehall Borough's 2008 “Citizen of the Year.”  Father Haney has been recognized for his extensive work with St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin Church and School, where he has resided as pastor for the past 25 years.  Father Haney's commitment to raising and maintaining funding has made St. Gabriel's School the only parochial school in the state to remain tuition-free.  He has distinguished himself as an invaluable part of the community, serving as dean of all 18 South Hills parishes and staying active in as many church activities as possible.  On behalf of the residents of Allegheny County, we are honored to present you with this recognition.  Your dedication to serving the community is commendable, and serves as an inspiration to the members of this Council and to all of the residents of Allegheny County.
