Proclamation recognizing Raymond "Ray" Petrick as he retires from his 30-year career as a Lieutenant with the North Fayette Volunteer Fire Department.

 

 

Body

WHEREAS, in 1973, the North Fayette Volunteer Fire Department held the groundbreaking ceremony for their new fire hall and purchased a new hose, ladder, tank and pumper truck.  Shortly following their connection to the South Hills Fire Department network, the North Fayette VFD was declared to be in operation; and

 

WHEREAS, Lieutenant Raymond “Ray” Petrick has distinguished himself as the longest-serving member of the department, with a record of service dating back to when the equipment was first acquired in 1973; and

 

WHEREAS, in addition to the countless lives that he has saved, Lt. Petrick devoted a great deal of his service to educating young children about fire prevention skills and has been one of the primary supporters of naming October “Fire Prevention Month”; and

 

WHEREAS, as a result of his efforts, there has only been one fire in North Fayette Township in the past decade that started as a result of a child playing with matches; and

 

WHEREAS, Lt. Petrick has also served as Chairman of the North Fayette VFD Fund Drive Campaign, bringing in hundreds of thousands of dollars to keep the organization running;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Allegheny County Council wishes to recognize Lieutenant Raymond “Ray” Petrick as he retires from the North Fayette Volunteer Fire Department after more than 30 years of service.  On behalf of the residents of Allegheny County, we thank you for your many years of protecting us from and educating our youth about fire-related dangers.
