Proclamations recognizing Sharpsburg Borough Mayor Donald Ferraro and Sharpsburg Borough Council President Joseph Panza, Jr. for their many contributions to Sharpsburg Borough.

WHEREAS, Allegheny County and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania have been blessed with exemplary leaders throughout our history, with visionaries of great skill and determination who have made invaluable contributions to our communities, our County and the world; and
WHEREAS, Donald Ferraro's position as Mayor of Sharpsburg Borough reflects the great respect for and confidence in his abilities as a leader and community champion from the voters of Sharpsburg, for whom he has remained steadfast in his dedication in the best tradition of American public service; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure as Borough Mayor, Mr. Ferraro has been responsible for the daily activities of the police, fire, EMS, public works, office staff, and for working with officials to develop and maintain the Sharpsburg Borough budget; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Ferraro previously served on the Sharpsburg Borough Council from 1986 through 1995, during which time he also served as Vice-Chairperson of the Council and Chairperson of the Water Committee; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Ferraro's devotion to public service has been evident throughout his diverse work history, including his many years with the Allegheny County Sheriff's Department, from which he retired in 1995 with the rank of Sergeant, his role as Executive director of BASH, a children's charity, and his current position as an Interchange Manager with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his often busy work schedules, Mr. Ferraro has committed much of his time to serving in leadership positions on a variety of local boards, including the Allegheny River Towns Enterprise Zone, the Allegheny County Boroughs Association, and the North Hills Council of Governments;
