WHEREAS, every year, Pittsburgh Taylor Allderdice High School recognizes distinguished alumni who are dedicated to going above and beyond and leaving their mark on the world; and

WHEREAS, this year, the selected honorees are acknowledged for their outstanding work in statistics, journalism, poetry, public health, and law; and

WHEREAS, the following five individuals will be recognized at the Hall of Fame ceremony on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at 7:00pm: Patrick Ball, PhD, Jeffrey Ballou, MA, Daniel Borzutzky, MFA, Marsha Lillie-Blanton, DrPH, and Edgar Snyder, JD; and

WHEREAS, 1983 graduate, Patrick Ball, PhD, founded the Human Rights Data Analysis Group, a non-profit, non-partisan organization that applies rigorous science to the study of human rights violations. He has provided quantitative analyses for truth commissions, non-governmental organizations, international criminal tribunals and United Nations missions around the world; and

WHEREAS, 1985 graduate, Jeffrey Ballou, MA, is a news editor for the Americas at Al Jazeera Media Network’s English language channel and the immediate past president of the National Press Club. He has worked at C-SPAN, WTTG-TV, WTOP-AM, NPR, Hearst Broadcasting and Hubbard Broadcasting (CONUS) and helped to launch Al Jazeera Media Network’s English language channel; and

WHEREAS, 1992 graduate, Daniel Borzutzky, MFA, has authored several books of poetry, including a winner of the 2016 National Book Award, The Performance of Becoming Human. He teaches in the English Department and Latin American and Latino Studies Program at the University of Illinois at Chicago; and

WHEREAS, 1971 graduate, Marsha Lillie-Blanton, DrPH, is a public health professional who has worked on health and health care access issues facing vulnerable populations for more than 30 years. She has held positions in government, a national...
